PESA is a procedure performed for male who are having sperm retrieved for IVF/ICSI who have obstructive azoospermia from either a prior vasectomy or infection. It is done with local anesthesia in the operating room or office and is coordinated with their female partner’s egg retrieval.
PESA / TESE is a surgical sperm retrieval procedure used in fertility treatment for men who have no sperm in their ejaculate. PESA (Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration) is the method of puncturing the skin of the testicles with a needle into the epididymis and extracting sperm.
